Donna MAY SANDERS
Donna May Sanders, a native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, served the City of Saint Paul as a civil servant for forty-one years. Not a writer per se, she wrote technical meeting minutes for years for city commissions and committees as an executive assistant. Veera Som and Donna, next door neighbors in Eagan, Minnesota from 2005-2023, agreed that Veera’s herstory as a Cambodian genocide survivor and subsequent U.S. immigrant, needed to be shared with a broader audience. Then the pandemic happened. A collaboration between them developed during this world-wide quarantine, and Veera’s biography emerged.
Donna is married to Conrad Sanders, and mother to their adult daughter Hannah. She enjoys reading, traveling, walking, pickle ball, creative projects and spending time with family and friends. Currently retired, Donna lives in Eagan with her husband and cat, Luna.
