About the Author
Evelyn D. Klein is a prize-winning poet whose articles and poetry have appeared in numerous publications, such as the Hudson Star Observer, The Minnesota Scholar, MJA Elements; Scholars Without Walls, the Saint Paul Almanac, County Lines, The Wind Blows, the Ice Breaks, This Was 2020, among them. She edited and published a poetry anthology entitled Stage Two: Poetic Lives after facilitating a poetry group at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis. Her books include From Here Across the Bridge, a poetry memoir, including illustrations by her father, Wolfgang Klein, winning a cover award; Once upon a Neighborhood and Seasons of Desire, the latter two both poetry, essays and her own illustrations; and Fear and Promise: Remembering the Year 2020. These four books were placed in the Minnesota Historical Society’s permanent library collection. Her recent book on language, Power Behind Your Writing: What Every Writer Needs to Know, is a text/reference book for students and writers in an updated, user-friendly approach.
Klein has a B.S. in Secondary Education and an M.S. in the teaching of English. She taught English and German in the public schools and writing at the Loft Literary Center and Century College. She was editor/contributor of MISF’s The Minnesota Scholar for nine years and publishes a newsletter, The Write Connection.
Formerly a Wisconsin resident, she made Minnesota her home for many years.
